Family members include:
Beloved husband of Robyn Rontal for 35 years, who he met as a graduate student studying public policy at the University of Michigan. Cherished father of Joshua Rontal, Sarah Rontal and Judith Rontal. Loving brother of Benjamin (Sherry) Rontal. Dear brother-in-law of Dan (Kimberly) Reagan, Heather Tonga and Jennifer (Rodolfo Monge) Reagan. Loving nephew of Channah Fishfeder. His parents and sister-in-law, Wendy Reagan, preceded him in death.

Rubin died at home with his wife at his side after a year-long struggle with a rare cancer. He was born March 26, 1947 in Chicago, to Ruth Rose Rontal and Cantor Moses Rontal, shortly after they immigrated to the United States, having survived the Holocaust. The legacy of the holocaust imprinted him with both a lifetime of disability and a passion for truth, justice, and human rights. While his dreams of being actively involved in social change were thwarted by disability, those dreams will live on and thrive through his wife, children and close friends. Family was the most precious thing to him, and his honesty and involvement in his children’s lives created an intimate family bond that will far outlive him.
