Laura Guttentag Lipson

Laura Guttentag Lipson, 91, of Novi, Michigan, died on 22 October 2024.

Laura led a remarkable life full of joy.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Dr. Channing T. Lipson; her children Deborah (Steven) Feldman of Framingham, MA; Beth (Matthew) Hafter of Wilmette, IL; Dr. Peter (Julie) Lipson of West Bloomfield.

She was adored by her grandchildren Andrew (Isabel Larrazábal Ramírez) Feldman of MA; Sharon (Taylor Johndrew) Feldman of CA; Mark (Piper Bold) Hafter of OH; Claire Hafter of Chicago, IL; and Allison and Samantha Lipson of West Bloomfield. She recently experienced the joy of meeting her first great grandchild, Talia Hafter.

She is also survived by her brother Joseph (Merna) Guttentag of ME, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother David Guttentag, and her parents Samuel and Sara Guttentag.

Her dear friend and partner in many adventures, Joan Mann, was by her side until the end.

Laura's love of family and children was expressed throughout her life. She was an innovative educator, and served as a volunteer Children's Advocate in Oakland County.

She and Bud raised their family in a home filled with music and creativity. She was a member of the Michigan Weavers Guild, creating beautiful woven tapestries and lovely, detailed beadwork jewelry which she often gifted to people she loved.

Laura loved music and was a supporter of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit and continued to take piano lessons until the end of her life.

She was a lifelong swimmer, and never met a lake she wouldn't jump into.

Laura lived her long life to its fullest, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family also wishes to thank all of her loving, compassionate caregivers.

There will be no formal service or shiva.
