Susan Sovel
Susan Sovel, 82, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, died on 12 August 2024. The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Friday, 16 August 2024 at 11:00 AM . Rabbi Blair Nosanwisch and Hazzan Daniel Gross officiated. Click  to watch a video of the recorded service.Interment at the cemetery will be private. Susan Sovel, 82, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, died on 12 August 2024. Along with her adored parents, Kopel and Estelle Kahn, Susan grew up with her sister and best friend, Alyssa, surrounded by a close-knit extended family: Ethel and Phil Levant, Jerry and Rita Keywell, Joyce and Paul Pensler, who were another three sets of devoted "parents" and cousins Synde Keywell, Denise Kalt (Fred), Karen Hellman (Bob), Gail Lichtman (Chuck), Julian Levant (Debbie), Jay Pensler (Lori), Sandy Pensler (Anita), Sheri Gerlinger (Ric). Susan was also beloved Aunt to Julee Mertz (Paul Webster) and Jeff Mertz (Jennifer) and Great Aunt to Elliott and Carter Webster and Charlotte and Amelia Mertz. Married to Robert Sovel over 35 years, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her adored Sovel family: children Rick Sovel (Laura Powers), Jeff Sovel (Joann), Karen Sovel (Chris Dellavecchia), grandchildren Jasmine Sovel-Charnesky (Eric), Janelle Polasek, Adam Dellavecchia, Amy Dellavecchia, and the late Allison Dellavecchia, and great-grandchildren Joy, Jebriel, Vivi, Journey, Jubilee, Jack, Jasper, Jade and Skyler. Susan, who loved to use her talents for the good of many, volunteered for 50 years at the Detroit Institute of Arts and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2006. She also volunteered and was on the board of the Friends of the West Bloomfield Library. Susan was a shining light in the lives of so many, and her memory will continue to brighten and inform the lives of those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be gathering from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the residence, 3405 Pine Estates, West Bloomfield, MI 48323.
