Family members include her parents the late Jean and Arnor Rubach. Her husband, the late Edward Klein, her daughter Diane Klein (Matthew Moore), her late son Jimmy Klein, her siblings the late Stanford Rubach (Jackie George), the late Charlotte (the late Marvin) DeRoven, and the late Irene (the late David) Anbender. She was a cherished aunt to Gail (the late Jack) Warren, Nancy DeRoven, Amy (Scott) Friedman, Arlene Rubach (Scott Jones), Claire Rubach (Wendy Baxter), and Julie Anbender (Brian Hurley), and her much adored great-nieces and great-nephews. Elaine's legacy continues through close family friends and numerous former students who were touched by her dedication to education.

Elaine's remarkable career in education spanned several decades. After her tenure in the Chappaqua School System, she continued to influence lives through her private teaching practice. She was not only an outstanding teacher but also a mentor who emphasized the importance of knowledge, independence, and personal growth, consistently inspiring her students to think critically.

To paraphrase her great-nephew, she showed a deep curiosity, interest and sympathy for everyone, no matter how briefly she interacted with them. She was a wonderfully unique person.
