Joe Haim Samet
Joe Haim Samet, 76, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, died on 08 November 2023. The Funeral was held at Graveside at Adat Shalom Memorial Park, 28500 W 6 Mile Rd, Livonia MI 48152 on Sunday, 12 November 2023 at 11:00 AM . Rabbi Natalie Shribman officiated. Family and friends are welcome to gather following interment Sunday at the residence of Eleen and David Higer, 31152 Carriage Hill Ct, Farmington Hills MI 48331. No formal shiva services will be held. Joe Haim Samet, age 76, of Boca Raton Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on November 8th 2023. Joe was born in a displaced person camp in Schwaebisch Hall Germany on June 15, 1947. The son of Holocaust survivors Benjamin and Frida (Cukierman) Samet. The family immigrated to Detroit, MI in 1958. Joe graduated from Henry Ford High School in Detroit, MI. Upon graduating from Henry Ford, Joe enlisted in the US Air Force where he served 4 years. Joe spent the earlier half of his life in the Metro Detroit area. Later he took residence in Boca Raton, Florida, where Joe was known as Joe the Barber, and quite possibly the only barber that spoke fluent Yiddish. Joe enjoyed collecting many things, such as coins, stamps, and other collectibles. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children and granddaughter. Joe is survived by his sons, Geoffrey (Renee) and Daniel Samet; and granddaughter Lilah Samet. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Frida Samet; brother Aron Samet and sister Rose Joseph.
